    TE21 History

TE21 was founded in 1999 by a group of business professionals who left the corporate world to begin a quality training and education company. The company’s original focus was on delivering high quality training to the business world. During this time, several founding members worked with the Governor’s Youth Council in South Carolina on solutions for juvenile crime prevention.  This quest led to the concept of a Family Learning Center that combined the use of business training tools and educational products to assist struggling families in gaining job skills as well as literacy skills.  The concept was brought to South Carolina under the umbrella of TE21, Inc.

The search for literacy programs for the Family Learning Center led to a need for educational products. During this period, Cindy Hollar, CEO of TE21, Inc., recognized that her daughter was having difficulty in school.  After ruling out learning disabilities through testing, and extra assistance during after-school tutoring, Cindy looked for a brain-based, research driven program to help her child.  She discovered the Academy of READING®. Cindy purchased the program and began to see results within the first few weeks of use. As her daughter began to gain the basic skills needed for reading, her vocabulary and grades improved and she enjoyed overall success as a student.

Cindy Hollar has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and worked as an elementary school teacher before making a shift to business.  She joined IBM where she worked for 14 years in corporate training, sales, and sales management.  Because Cindy worked in the educational sales field for many years, she was able to recognize the value of the Academy of READING®.  Seeing daily what it could do for her daughter, she began to rethink the direction of TE21. Cindy found it much more worthwhile to promote educational tools that would help children gain the same successes her daughter experienced.
TE21 became the sole source resource seller for the Academy of READING® and the Academy of MATH® in North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Southern Virginia. The company also began representing the AnyWhere Learning System curriculum software courses and added the Time To Teach classroom management materials to its product line.

In 2010, TE21 took a bold step in publishing CASE21 assessment products, operating in Durham, North Carolina. The focus is Benchmark Assessments that provide data for schools to inform instruction and a Question Item Bank & Assessment Maker for teachers to use in developing quality assessments.

During this period, TE21 began representing Educational Impact, the premier online provider of professional development for teachers and administrators.

The company continues to seek new and useful ways of supporting the work of schools and school districts.
