The need for literacy programs for the Family Learning Center led to a need for educational products. During this same time frame, Cindy Hollar, CEO of TE21, Inc., recognized that her daughter was having difficulty in school. After ruling out learning disabilities through testing, and extra assistance during after school tutoring, Cindy looked for intervention tools to help her child.
Cindy Hollar has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and worked as an Elementary school teacher before making a shift to business. She joined IBM where she worked for 14 years, doing corporate training, sales, and sales management. Because Cindy worked in the educational sales field for many years, she was able to recognize the value of intervention programs and the need for formative and benchmark assessments. Seeing daily what it could do for someone like her daughter, she began to rethink the direction of her company. Cindy found it much more worthwhile to promote educational tools and assessments that would help children gain the same successes her daughter experienced.
